曾经拍过警匪片经典作《霹雳神探》的威廉．弗里德金，在本片表现得最精彩的仍然是一场环市下水道的飞车追逐场面，但在塑造角色方面则显得单调和低调，好人和坏蛋之间看来没有两样，因而削弱了正反角色之间互相对立的戏剧张力。何况，威廉．彼得森的演技远远不及吉恩．哈克曼，所以让本片的整体成绩大打折扣。^[1]
