舒其望,美国布朗大学教授,应用数学系主任,中国科技大学“长江学者奖励计划”讲座教授。
美国数学会理事会成员,美国数学学会杂志“Mathematics of Computation”主编,美国Springer杂志“Journal of Scientific Computing”主编以及十余种国际计算和应用数学杂志的编委。2014年,他受邀在第27届国际数学家大会做45分钟报告。[1]
人物经历
1982年在中国科学技术大学数学系毕业取得学士学位。
1986年在美国加州大学洛杉矶分校数学系取得博士学位。之后在明尼苏达大学应用数学研究所做一年博士后,
1987年至1996年在美国布朗大学应用数学系担任助理教授和副教授,
1996年起在美国布朗大学应用数学系担任教授
2014年,舒其望受邀在国际数学家大会做45分钟报告。[2]
2022年,舒其望在Research.com2022年版数学1000强科学家排名中位列世界第11位和美国第8位。[3]
科学研究
主要研究兴趣包括计算流体力学和偏微分方程数值解,与Osher合作针对原ENO格式用于多维问题时的困难,提出了基于点值的ENO格式,使它更便于高维问题的求解。与Cockburn等合作将间断有限元方法推广到非线性一维守恒律方程和方程组,高维守恒律方程和方程组,并给出了部分收敛性理论证明等。
