劳伦斯·艾尔斯作为阿旺特的首席研究员,劳伦斯教授对新生婴幼儿健康成长所涉及的身体功能、大脑发育、神经系统等关键部位的建立和发展有着极高的造诣,并且在该行业有着超前20年的眼光!
个人经历
劳伦斯·艾尔斯于1974年以研究人员的身份加入阿贝尔有限公司,同年加入了新西兰化学研究所。在阿贝尔期间,他跃升为首席化学家及技术部经理,并且在油类和脂肪领域引导了多项发明。他的首项主要产品开发是名为“魔幻黄油”的多不饱和人造黄油。此项发明于1979年推出。因其与医务界密切关联,此产品在市场上站稳了脚跟。其后续替代产品现在已成为市场上的领导者。
将新西兰天然牛脂加工成可食用产品是过去13年中取得的一项重大成果。期间,他就如何将牛脂制造成油脂化学品和生物柴油向科工部的专家做过咨询。此项工作成果在新西兰化学学会的会议上做过介绍。对深海鱼油与角鲨烯的加工他也做过大量研究。这些工作也与科工部专家的合作密切相关。
在此期间,他还发表了许多篇就鸡尾莲油,月见草油,母乳脂肪和婴幼儿配方奶,芥花油及其他题目的分析论分。其关于鸡尾莲的论文曾在国际理论和应用化学联合会在丹尼丁召开的自然产品大会上做过介绍。
在他从事食用油业务期间,劳伦斯与其工程界的同事一道,为提炼油的预处理开发了一种新的短停留漂白过程。
1982年,新西兰化学会的油脂类专家组成立,在其成立后的20年里,组织了四次国际会议。
劳伦斯于1986年离开阿贝尔公司。并以独立顾问的身份为多家开发产品的小公司提供服务。其中一个就包括一个名为Karifane/Karicare整合脂肪酸的新的营儿配方奶产品。此产品现在是纽蒂希亚公司旗下的一款市场领导者。
后来他加入了新西兰乳品局。他在与同事为生产黄油和本地及海外烘烤市场专用特殊黄油的开发过程中起了极其重要的作用。他还开发了Country Soft,一种黄油与人造黄油的混合物,在20年后的今天,一个依然成功的产品。为此,劳伦斯于DRI的科学家和乳品公司于1989年,以产品发明一起赢得了食品一等奖。
劳伦斯此时已成为新西兰化学会的会员。
同时,他也是新西兰食品科技学会的会员。
1990年,他短期离开新西兰,在英国管理了一家工程公司。1994年回到新西兰,重新加入新西兰化学会。
此时,劳伦斯在APV公司工作,并将脂肪分馏的膜技术引入到乳品公司。
劳伦斯于1995年以技术董事的身份加入古德曼菲尔德公司。他负责带领一个开发团队开发新产品和技术。在其任职蓝鸟食品期间,他开发了低脂肪健康薯片产品,至今仍是市场上的畅销产品,以及其他几个小吃食品,包括燕麦坚果能量棒作为新西兰的出口产品。
劳伦斯曾作为食品与农业事务董事,在梅西大学任职数年。期间,他主导了鳄梨油的提取与开发,至今仍是一项业务。此产品荣获梅西大学食品奖。与梅西科学家和植物食品科学家合作发表关于鳄梨油的章节,已发表在美国油脂化学家协会教科书与杂志上。
劳伦斯以技术董事的身份在2001年加入了新西兰乳制品协会。期间,革新的酸奶产品,超高温消毒奶,乳酱等产品陆续上市。一个创新产品是欧米伽3奶(Vital)。劳伦斯的理念对一位博士生对此产品的研究,及对植物固醇添加到乳制品都给予了帮助。Vital奶(欧米伽3)在2004年获得梅西食品奖中的产品开发奖。
因为其在食品工业开发领域的贡献及对科研上的帮助,例如就转基因皇室签发的委任书,劳伦斯在2006年被新西兰食杂委员会授予终身成就奖。
2006年劳伦斯作为食品营养理事加入奥克兰大学。在一些联合项目中,他与企业界与学术界一道为出口市场开发产品与工艺。这其中最主要的一项就是作为无水乳脂肪替代物的风味牛脂作为有竞争力的出口产品出口到亚洲。
他在油脂营养方面的工作得到了“人类营养基础”出版商的认可,并于2011年发表。劳伦斯负责书中油脂一章的撰写。
作为油脂领域经验丰富的一名科学家,他既是营养基金会的一位顾问,也是国家心脏基金会的一位重要成员。
劳伦斯与业界的客户就食用油和非食用油技术的各个方面的工作仍在延续。最近他设计了一个品牌为莱斯特油的欧米伽3特别辅食,由关注健康有限公司推向市场。
他定期地在新西兰食品科技学会的官方杂志,新西兰食品上发布油脂类新闻。
劳伦斯教授不久前被新西兰化学学会授予了2011年工业化学奖。
近期活动
劳伦斯教授成为了新西兰乳业巨头阿旺特集团的首席营养顾问。新西兰阿旺特(AVANTE)国际集团公司成立于1960年,在新西兰拥有50年严谨科学营养史,是新西兰知名的国际型企业,1970年开始从事奶制品。其中以劳伦斯艾尔斯(Laurence Eyres)教授领导的科研团队不断创造出新的更先进的奶粉配方,赢得了欧美市场的一致信赖。
