人物经历

Mingus在五十年代早期成立了自己的唱片品牌Debut Records（1952-1955），并建立了“Jazz Composer’s Workshop”，一个音乐家联盟，旨在抵制唱片工业的商业化操作，并推动爵士艺术家协会的成立，以团结爵士乐手对抗音乐创作者的剥削。他的作品“Half-Mast Inhibition”在17岁时创作，但直到二十年后才由Gunther Schuller指挥录音。1955年，他在Brandeis举行的创造性艺术音乐节上推出了结合古典和爵士的作品“Revelations”，确立了他作为爵士作曲家的重要地位。

Mingus的音乐灵感来源于Duke Ellington、Charlie Parker、Thelonious Monk、黑人福音音乐、墨西哥民间音乐、传统爵士和二十世纪古典音乐。他与Thad Jones、Dannie Richmond、Jackie Mclean、Eric Dolphy等杰出即兴演奏家合作完成了许多杰作。他的作品“Goodbye, Porkpie Hat”是向Lester Young致敬的作品，是被重新演绎最多的作品之一。

Mingus直到1977年被诊断出患有罕见的神经性疾病，一直活跃在音乐前沿，周游于欧洲、日本、加拿大、南美洲和美国大陆。晚年他只能坐在轮椅上，去世前的作品多是录在录音机上的。他的贝司演奏来自于刻苦练习，而作曲才华则认为是上帝的恩赐。Mingus一生获得了多项音乐奖项，包括国家艺术基金、古根海姆基金等。古根海姆基金的Steve Schlesinger评价他为“最重要的美国作曲家之一”，而《纽约人》杂志认为他的作品在旋律、节奏和音乐结构上具有原创性，可与二十世纪西方音乐史的任何作品相媲美。
