1967年毕业于清华大学动力机械系
1970~1978在北京热电厂热工车间工作
1978~1983在清华大学自动化系和英国曼彻斯特大学理工学院控制系统中心学习
1983至今在清华大学自动化系任教,他所教授的自动控制理论课程在自动化系学生中有着很高的评价,学术作风严谨,讲课认真负责,深受广大学生的爱戴
2009年8月15日凌晨在洛杉矶因病医治无效去世,享年65岁
